Why I Joined: It's reasonable to use personal wealth to insulate ourselves from misfortune, but too often that isolates us from the social whole. For most of human history we have lived in community. In these times many live in luxury, and others in abject poverty.

Why I Joined: Fragmentation ... it isn't abstract: it can be measured, and studied, and talked about ... and it drains the affectivity that energizes us. So oNet's spirit should keep us pulling together!

Why I Joined: In my 30 years experience I've found the NGO scene to be smothered by alpha-type careerists, even though people in the field are saints and angels. Breaking the monopoly is key. Let 100,000 flowers bloom!

Why I Joined: I've seen both sides of this. Living as though born to royalty made me sick. (Imagine paying $50K to repaint your boat, or buying 1/4lb of coffee for $150 ... and ignoring the plight of the poor. It's insane.) "Live simply so that others can simply live."

Why I Joined: Didn't Fromm write a book something like "To Have or To Be"? Anyhow, conspicuous consumption feeds the yearning for individual sovereignty ... symptomatic of how we've shattered our human community.
